Ideas of Activities to Do with Children at Home this Summer

With summer here, it can be challenging to keep your children entertained at home, especially if you're not able to travel or go on holiday. But fear not, there are plenty of fun and engaging activities that you can do with your children at home this summer. Below, we'll share some ideas of activities that your children will love.

1. Create a back garden water park

On a hot summer day, nothing beats a water park. But if you can't go to one, why not create one in your own back garden? Set up a slip and slide, a paddling pool, and some water guns. Your children will have a blast splashing around and keeping cool.

2. Have a movie marathon

Set up a cosy movie area in your living room and have a movie marathon with your children. Choose a theme or genre that your children will enjoy, such as Disney movies or superhero movies. Don't forget to pop some popcorn and have some snacks on hand.

3. Create a scavenger hunt

Create a scavenger hunt around your home and garden. Write clues on paper and hide them around the house, leading to a prize at the end. Your children will have fun trying to solve the clues and find the prize.

4. Make homemade ice cream

Making homemade ice cream is a fun and tasty activity that your children will love. You don't need an ice cream maker, just some cream, sugar, and your favourite flavourings. Get your children involved in the process of mixing and freezing, and enjoy the delicious results together.

5. Have a picnic

Pack a picnic basket and head to your local park or garden for a family picnic. Bring some sandwiches, fruit, and snacks, and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air.

6. Host a DIY craft day

Set up a craft station and let your children get creative with some DIY projects. You can provide materials such as paints, glue, paper, and beads, and let your children's imagination run wild.

7. Play board games

Board games are a great way to spend quality time with your children and have some fun. Choose age-appropriate games that everyone can enjoy and get ready for some friendly competition.

So if you’re staying at home for the holidays, there are plenty of activities that you can do with your children at home this summer. From creating your own water park to hosting a DIY craft day, there are plenty of ways to keep your children entertained and engaged. By being creative and having fun together, you can make this summer a memorable one for the whole family.
