Autumn is upon us, bringing shorter days and cooler nights, signalling the impending arrival of Halloween! If you're searching for some thrilling Halloween activities for you and your children, here are some of the finest Halloween events taking place in Sussex this year.


Rogate Pumpkin Patch – Open 18th October – 3rd November

This year marks Rogate’s tenth anniversary! To celebrate there are some exciting new attractions and activities alongside all the usual pumpkin fun at this magical pumpkin themed outdoor event.

Rogate is a family run pumpkin farm and magical pumpkin-themed outdoors event. Your entry ticket transports you into a wonderful world of everything spooky and pumpkin. Families and visitors of all ages return year after year for a fun-filled day with memories to cherish. Complete your visit by picking your pumpkins from a spectacular array of colours and sizes, conjuring up everything from munchkins to monsters for you to take home and carve more wonderful fun together.


Amberley Museum – Halloween Evening & Ghost Train– 26th October -6.30pm-9pm

Go on a ride on the ghost train and look out for what is lurking in the woods! Discover the 36-acre Museum after dark with all exhibits open for exploring 6 pm – 9 pm.


Amberley Museum – Halloween Half Term – 26th October – 3rd November

Not-So-Scary Spider Trail – Sat 26, Sun 27 October & Wed 30 October to Sunday 3 November, all day.

We often associate spiders with Hallowe’en but they don’t have to be scary! Follow the family-friendly trail to find out more about these fascinating, eight-legged invertebrates, including rarer species found in the grounds of Amberley Museum.

Model your own pipe-cleaner spider to take home

Friday 1 November – Back by popular demand!

Have a go at the traditional craft of woodturning with the West Sussex Woodturners and take home a small wooden keepsake (£1.50 charge per person).

 

Visit the Pottery for ‘Potion Bottles & Cauldrons’ model with clay sessions.

Running from 12 Oct to 3 Nov. Addtional price of £2.50 per person applies for this activity.

 

Weald & Down Museum – Fire and Light - October half term – 26th October to 3rd November

Explore the uses of Fire and Light

Explore the seasonal trail around the Museum and take part in activities for all ages. Here is what is happening each day:

Saturday 26 October to Sunday 03 November –  Explore the shadow box trail – Use shadows and light to find your way around the Museum.

Monday 28 October to Friday 01 November – Plague Potions – Join our medieval apothecary to make your own potion using dragon’s blood and other gruesome ingredients to protect you from the plague and other terrifying diseases.

Tuesday 29 to Thursday 31 October – Knucker the Dragon Family Activities – Make light-themed crafts at the Creation station, learn about how people in the past lit their homes at the Investigation station, and play games at the Games station.

Monday 28 October, Wednesday 30 October, Friday 01 November – Join our storyteller Dawn Nelson and gather around the hearth for Spooky Season, with tales of King Herla, water witches and wandering trees.

Tuesday 29 October, Thursday 31 October – Cabinet of Curiosities – Explore the Cabinet of Curiosities to find out what strange and unusual items people used in the past.


Washbrook Farm – Halloween Half Term

Washbrooks Family Farm has everything you need, indoor play areas, outdoor play areas, pedal tractors to ride on and plenty of opportunities to get up close to farm animals. This year’s Halloween Half Term event includes a Halloween Quiz competition

 

Fishers Farm Park Halloween Happy Hauntings 26th October – 3rd November

Make no bones about it, Fishers Farm Park’s Halloween Happy Hauntings is a fun family day out that puts the fang in fang-tastic!


‘LITTLE BOO BARN’

They have “sugar’n’spiced” things up this year with the perfect event for all little monsters. Brace yourselves for some innovative, interactive family-fun as you tip-toe into the mystical ‘Little Boo Barn’

Meander through the weird and wonderful, experiencing giggles and thrills on the way! Join in with singing pumpkins and enjoy a not-so-scary Halloween adventure for your teenie-Halloweenies.

Is it a trick, or a treat? Be prepared to oohhh and ahhh at our mystic-magicians in the daily magic shows.

Dare to ride the mysterious Ghost Tunnel? It’s a funny, but spooky ride with an educational twist!

Too cute to spook? Please don’t worry if you’re not the Halloween kind – there will be lots of other half-term fun on offer this school holidays. Jump aboard the Fishers Express train; come and give the cute farm animals some warm and friendly cuddles in the Animal Encounters Barn; or dare to take the leap from the high jump at Skyfall.

 

Sky Park Farm -Monster School– October Half Term

Have you ever pondered the dark secrets of becoming a true monster? Join the magical Winnie the Witch, the renowned instructor, as she casts her spell and transports you to a spine-chilling Halloween academy. Embark on a haunting journey through her school of sorcery, where you’ll face eerie tasks, create chilling crafts, master sinister spells, and engage in ghostly games. 

 

Petersfield Museum Halloween Fun Day 26th October

Put on your costume, grab your broomstick and wand and enter Petersfield Museum and Art Gallery if you dare! Celebrate Halloween with ghostly crafts, spooky storytelling and modern twists on traditional games. There is something for all the family!

 

Petworth House and Park

Explore the gardens of Petworth House & Park and solve the spooky mystery of a stolen Halloween trail pumpkin, with activities, games and challenges for the whole family to complete together. Suitable for all ages. Children under 7 may need some support. 

 

Nymans Gardens – Halloween Half Term Trail – Saturday 19th October

A spooky half term at Nymans with Halloween-themed fun and games, pumpkin faces, witches’ hats and a bubbling cauldron. Free family trail. ’
