Amazing Christmas Events Near Midhurst & Sussex for You and Your Children!

Amazing Christmas Events In Midhurst for You and Your Children!

It's coming up for that most wonderful time of the year once again! Hopefully this year is looking a lot more like Christmas than last year. To help you get in the Christmas spirit here are some amazing things to do near to us at The Country Mouse for you and your children. If we've forgotten anything please feel free to add to the comments section at the end of this post!

Christmas Street Party

3 December @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Midhurst Town Council warmly invites you to the 2021 Christmas Street Party, located in the ‘Old Town’ and Market Square. Local businesses will be offering late night shopping and a Craft Market will fill the Old Library on Knockhundred Row, with plenty of opportunities to buy Christmas presents for all the family!

The popular Santa’s Grotto returns this year, organised by The Upholsterer on North Street and supported by Grace Church. This is free for families and includes a token gift for all children.

Fairground rides will be present and free to ride.

Tree Dressing @ Weald and Downland Living Museum

Sunday, 5 December

Tree Dressing is a magical occasion for all the family. On Sunday, 5 December Weald and Downland Museum will be holding a slightly adapted version of the Museum’s annual Tree Dressing event. This year there are a few changes – there will be a long procession around the Museum starting at 3.45pm. Musicians will lead the procession and a drum will help keep the beat whilst keeping a distance.

Meet Green Father Christmas @ Weald and Downland Museum

Various Dates

Seated in his chamber, traditionally decorated with seasonal greenery, Green Father Christmas will be selecting presents from a large wooden chest to give to each child that he meets. Every child can spend time with Green Father Christmas before receiving a traditional toy wrapped in brown paper and string.

There are lots of opportunities to take photos, and each guest can enjoy a hot drink and mince pie whilst waiting to see Green Father Christmas.

A Christmas Experience and Market @ Weald and Downland Museum

3rd & 4th December

Come and visit the Museum over the 3 & 4 December to delve into the past and learn how our ancestors prepared for Christmas through the ages. Immerse yourself in all things festive, with live demonstrations and activities for all to enjoy. From music in the tin tabernacle, food demonstrations in the Tudor kitchen and inspiring calligraphy and card making in our Medieval house from Street, to roasted chestnuts and freshly baked spiced biscuits from our Victorian bakehouse!

To get you into the festive spirit, not only will you be able to explore the collection of historic buildings and artefacts, but there will be a boutique Christmas market around the Museum’s mill pond and market square, where you will find 50 hand-selected stall holders, selling quality products from around the local region.

Stick Man & Chichester Festival Theatre

10 – 24th December

Touching, funny and utterly original, Freckle Productions’s delightful adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s Stick Man arrives in Chichester!

What starts off as a morning jog becomes quite the misadventure for Stick Man: a dog wants to play fetch with him, a swan builds a nest with him, and he even ends up on a fire! How will Stick Man ever get back to the family tree?

We hope we have given you some inspiration for things to do on the run up to Christmas!
